Eastern Idaho State Fair Native American Dept. entries open on August 31
BLACKFOOT — Entries for the Native American Department at the Eastern Idaho State Fair are Monday, August 31 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday, September 1 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, September 2 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Harvest Plaza Building.
Exhibitors must be a member of a federally recognized tribe and enrollment verification may be required. The superintendent is Anna Bowers, assistant superintendent is Casey Ball and artisan market is Mary Chix Washakie.
Special awards for Shoshone-Bannock tribal members include: Superintendent’s Award: $100 – framed (new photo individual with horse & horse regalia.) Chairman’s Choice: $100. Councilmen Choice: $50 each (2 awards given.) Special awards provided by: The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes.
Special prizes adult category: Award beaded men’s necktie – $200. Beaded graduation cap (2) – $100. Hand carved and beaded pipe – $200. Willow basket (newly made) – $200. Women’s beaded knife sheath – $200. Beaded medallions concept: Set with beaded hair barrette, beaded earrings, necklace – $200. Children category: Children’s (18 and under) and chokecherry pudding (girl) – $50. Class 1012: Children’s da’o (boy) – $50.
Special awards and cash prizes are provided by: The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes Awards and pictures will be presented on Thursday, September 10, immediately following the completion of the Indian Relay Races, in front of the Native American Department in the Building No. 8 – Harvest Plaza Building.
