Lee Juan Tendoy wins Shoshone-Bannock Tribes run off election for FHBC seat

FORT HALL — Fort Hall Business Council incumbent Lee Juan Tendoy won the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes run off election June 20 with 299 votes while Louise S. Dixey received 261 votes.

He was sworn into office June 24 and elected vice chairman. He thanked the voters for voting for him at the election returns.

Dixey also thanked everyone who voted for her. She said there were many hurdles, “I think that we’re very inconsistent with our election act and a lot needs to get straightened out.” She talked about the situation in the Bureau of Indian Affairs with one person left in Realty. She hopes the Tribes will get their act together and figure out how the landowners are going to be taken care of. She believes the leadership needs to be more open and communicate with landowners. She further discussed the conditions of the range land noting it’s been years since a range inventory has been conducted to determine the value of the land and the range. The conditions aren’t the same as they were before. She would like to see a different attorney hired to handle many tribal issues. She also noted the election board needs to be independent and not be interfered with.
