
Braxton Wahtomy leads in flag bearers and dancers at the American Falls Schools Social Powwow evening grand entry on February 7.

AMERICAN FALLS — The American Falls Schools Social Powwow brought dancers, families, and spectators together on February 7, for a full day of song, dance, and community activities at American Falls High School.
Grand entries were at 1 p.m. and again at 6 p.m., with a free dinner served at 5 p.m. as part of the day’s schedule. Chelsea Mohawk of Vineyard, Utah, served as master of ceremonies, with Alex Graves Sr. and Danny Tavale leading the floor as arena directors. Ghost Canyon was the host drum. The other drum present was Creek Singers.
During the afternoon session of the powwow, all Junior and Teen categories competed in dance.

The event was organized as a free, family-friendly gathering and included vendors selling Native American beadwork, arts, and crafts, along with cakewalks, raffles, and special events. During the evening session, Miss J.R. Simplot Elementary Junior Princess Luella Farmer Hat and Boot Special featured dancers wearing traditional regalia paired with western hats and boots while competing for cash prizes sponsored by Luella Farmer’s family. Skye Beasley earned first place, Tanner Countryman placed second, and Hovia Edwards received third. In the consolation rounds, Humble Coby was awarded First Consolation, and Kenai Corona received Second Consolation.
